Dear Mayor and Council,
WHEN AFFORDABLE IS NOT REALLY AFFORDABLE
It is a sad era for San Luis Obispo when 'leaders' believe
"affordable housing" will be provided by new developments.
This could happen only if investors who rent for profit
or buy to resell for profit are removed (completely) from
the equation.
What can you do?
Place the homeowner occupancy policy on all dwellings.
WHEN NATURE IS DISREGARDED AND CONSIDERED DISPOSABLE
It is a sad era for San Luis Obispo when 'leaders' believe
it is acceptable to clear cut groves of trees (that all professional
resources state are beneficial for the environment). It is especially
disappointing that it cannot be clearly stated that these trees are
being removed so that the developer can build more to make more
profit. Instead, the statement of planting 10 to 1 is used in defense
of this wrong action. This should embarrass the least-to-most informed
among you. 10 twig-sized plantings could never (should never) compare
to a tree of any size (let alone huge trees). Don't embarrass yourself.
What can you do?
Always insist on a policy that developers build whatever they propose
around the 'nature' of/on the land they purchase.
INFRASTRUCTURE
You know that the city is ill prepared for the number of dwellings that are
being pushed through by City Mgr and Staff.
What can you do?
Insist all improvements be put in place before a mess is created for all.
We have little hope in the present. I trust we can look ahead to more forward-
thinking representatives in the coming years.
Thank You,
Camille Small
