As the owner and developer of The Manse on Marsh, I am very familiar with the challenges of dealing with historic structures in the context of new development. In the course of building the eastern addition to the Manse, the City required the rehabilitation of the "Pinho House". This was accomplished after much review and input from the City. The house was moved very close to then corner Marsh and Beach Streets, from another location on the parcel. This move toward the street brought the historic structure closer to the pedestrian and vehicular public, enhancing its prominence as a part of SLO history. I have reviewed the plans prepared by Thom Brajkovich and believe his proposal to be the best solution for this highly degraded building. I have also reviewed the Supplemental Technical Analysis and historic reports by LSA and I agree that the proposed rehabilitation conforms to SLO historic property standards and the federal standards for rehabilitation of historic structures. Furthermore, I think this rehabilitation is long overdue and that the City is fortunate to have the opportunity to approve the restoration of a decaying historic home in the midst of our downtown, turning an old, dilapidated home into a beautiful historic asset. Thank you for considering my remarks. I wish you all well.
