WEDNESDAY, JULY 11, 2012 MINUTES *The meeting was preceded by a SLO Transit and SLORTA facility tour for MTC members. CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Elizabeth Thyne called the meeting to order at 2:50 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Elizabeth Thyne, Art Apruzzese, Louise Justice, Jody Frey, Jonathan Ellis, and Todd Katz Staff: John Webster, Dee Lawson ANNOUNCEMENTS Ms. Thyne announced that Stanley Yucikas would no longer be able to continue as an MTC member due to a conflict with his work schedule. Ms. Thyne and Mr. Webster signed a certification of appreciation for Mr. Yucikas for his dedicated service and hard work on the MTC committee during the last three years. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. A. CONSENT ITEMS A-1. Approval of May 9, 2012 Regular Meeting Mr. Katz noted that Mr. Ellis, not Mr. Katz, had nominated Mr. Apruzzese as Vice Chair. Mr. Apruzzese moved to approve the meeting minutes as amended. Ms. Justice seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Approved-September 12, 2012 MTC Regular meeting B. DISCUSSION ITEMS B-1. Ad Hoc Committee Marketing Update Ms. Lawson, SLO Transportation Assistant reported on the Committee updates and distributed various examples of ads run in different media, including a special free ride bus pass. She also noted a radio ad would be running through August. She reported on the loss of Trolley funding and discussed efforts to increase Trolley ridership in hopes of regaining the funding. She also stated that the ad artwork would be viewed on public access channels. Mr. Apruzzese discussed the press release campaign. C. ACTION ITEMS There were no action items. D. INFORMATION ITEMS D-1. Transit Manager’s Report D-2. Operating-Performance Reports Mr. Webster presented highlight discussion on the reports as presented. MEMBER COMMENTS Ms. Thyne suggested a larger bus was needed on Route 1 during the summer to accommodate YMCA camper riders; the capacity of the current buses was not large enough to allow for regular riders as well. Ms. Lawson agreed to discuss the matter with the YMCA and look into larger capacity buses for that route. The meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m. to the regular meeting of September 12, 2012 to be held at 2:45 p.m. at the Council Hearing Room at 990 Palm Street.
