Thank you. Tree Committee members: Please do not allow the tree removals on Garden St. Higuera St., Palm St., Marsh St., and Osos St. that are on your Monday, August 28, 2017 agenda. San Luis Obispo is allowing the removal of too many mature trees which give our city so many gifts in terms of beauty, shade, carbon sequestration, lower temperatures in the heat of summer, homes for birds and the wonderful feeling of walking through our Downtown urban forest. . It is very disheartening that San Luis Obispo claims to be a "Tree City" while at the same time continuing to allow the removal of mature trees. I question the need to remove healthy trees in light of Climate Change. Are you willing to participate in the needless destruction of one of our town's greatest assets? Small replacement trees just don't make up for the loss of older trees. Please protect our mature trees in the City. Sincerely, Cheryl McLean San Luis Obispo
