Dear Alan and All,
One of the interesting aspects of SLO downtown is the appearance of these trees on
Marsh. Then are very akin to the trees one sees on sacred Buddhist paintings from Tibet,
called thankas. As this county is the home of the oldest Buddhist monastery in America,I
have often wondered if it was, in fact, Japanese gardeners who encouraged their growth,
to create an almost sacred canopy over the city?
Thus, are we losing more than trees if we allow them to be cut down?
Sincerely,
Bob Sachs
