I am writing to urge you to support the General Plan Amendment to Eliminate the Luneta Drive Connection.
I am a resident of the Luneta Drive neighborhood.
As a neighborhood community, we have worked extensively with the city to create this amendment which will keep
our neighborhood peaceful and safe.
The proposal is completely win-win.
It simply makes permanent the closure of Luneta Drive, which has been in effect for over 40 years.
This is essentially a change on paper and involves no additional cost to the city.
(The alternative - opening Luneta to through traffic - would have increased daily traffic on streets like Luneta,
Serrano and Palomar to several times their current daily volume, pushed Serrano over its maximum daily threshold,
created numerous safety hazards, increased noise significantly and overall destroyed at least two peaceful
neighborhoods).
Again, the proposal was developed by our neighborhood together with the city and is fully supported by local
residents. It simply leaves things just as they are (and have been for decades).
Please vote in favor of the General Plan Amendment to Eliminate the Luneta Drive Connection.
