Re: General Plan Amendment to Eliminate the Luneta Drive Connection
Dear Commissioners,
RECEIVED
CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
SEP 18 2017
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
I'm very disappointed in your decision 3-1 to degrade the Luneta area neighborhood in order to expedite the "student housing"
project, 71 Palomar. Decisions like this are what will incrementally make SLO more and more like the Santa Maria or Orange
County so many of us have fled.
Thank you, Commissioner Mann, for standing up for an existing neighborhood amid a din for "affordable housing," a slogan that
will result in a mere 300-500 units in a burgeoning mire of Anytown, USA, development that will create congestion, loss of
viewshed, loss of urban character, water insecurity, low-wage jobs, water rate increases, increase --not decreased commuting.

Subject: General Plan Amendment to Eliminate the Luneta Drive Connection
Dear Commissioners,
On Sept. 13, the the General Plan Amendment to Eliminate the Luneta Drive Connection will come before
the Planning Commission. I urge you to fully support the General Plan Amendment to Eliminate the Luneta
Drive Connection because it will maintain the integrity of this family-oriented neighborhood and keep auto
traffic where it belongs, on Foothill and Ramona. Although the area is steep, as electric bikes become a
favored form of transportation in coming years, Luneta's best use will be as an a -bike route from downtown
into the upper reaches of the neighborhood.
Please let the integrity of existing neighborhoods be a guiding principle in all your decisions.
Thank you for your consideration.
