Dear advisory board,
I am unable to attend the Jan 18th meeting but I want to write you and say that I fully support the preferred alternative
that calls for a protected bike lane and loss of parking. Living in a neighborhood that has restricted parking I know first
hand that affected households will be critical of any disruption from their current routine. Change is hard. But this bike
lane proposal does far more good than the disturbance of some convenient parking. This project would truly make a
safer bike to school route for many students (Pacheco, Bishops Peak, Cal Poly, Old Mission Elementary downtown and at
Nativity Church, MCP). As a nurse I truly see the growing epidemic of obesity in our young people and providing a safe
bike lane could have the added benefit of increasing activity in people's daily lives. As a citizen of San Luis Obispo for
over 30 years I fully support the proposal of making a designated bike lane a reality.
Thank you for considering my opinion,
