The current hours of accessibility are not only adequate, they protect the wildlife and the tranquilty of our town. Increasing the hours to accommodate a very small portion of vocal constituents is contrary to protecting the environment. As I have stated in the past, allowing evening access will also have a negactive impact on emergency services. In addition, criminal activity is on the rise. Unsuspecting hikers and bikers will make prime targets for those who are looking for opportunites for either theft or assault. For years residents have supported the protection of open space. Please strengthen those protections rather than weaken them. Thank you. In your staff report the Parks & Recreation Director is claiming authority for setting Open Space hours due to an 1 outdated enforcement clause in the 1998 Open Space Ordinance. It is called a “Reach Back” when someone tries to claim authority for something that has long since been changed. This attempt at semantic trickery is so disrespectful to the residents of this city. There’s no end to that kind of "Reach 2
