As you may know, many California cities have “Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committees” (i.e., Oakland, San Mateo, San Jose, Mountain View, Los Gatos, Mill Valley, Santa Clara, etc.) and some cities have created advisory committees to represent bicyclists and pedestrians separately. We know that you may not specify who should serve on this Committee in the future. However, recognizing that other cities have gone the extra mile to include the word “pedestrian” in their Committee’s titles, we’re hoping strong advocates for improving the walkable environment will apply and be represented on this “Active Transportation Committee”. Save Our Downtown is very much looking forward to the adoption of a “Pedestrian Plan”, particularly for the Downtown Core. We wish to remind you that six years ago (in 2012) we submitted to the City a 45-page draft Downtown Pedestrian Plan comprised of survey results, recommendations and graphics. Our objective was to incorporate the Downtown Concept Plan into this pedestrian plan. We are hoping that once work begins on the proposed Pedestrian Plan and should you need additional assistance, we might be included in this process. Thank you! 1
