Honorable Mayor and Council Members,
I would like to start by thanking staff for all their hard work balancing varying interests and constraints and coming up
with solutions to benefit the whole of the community. The staff report clearly articulated the objectives of the project
and the trade-offs of the alternatives. I also want to thank the Bicycle Advisory Committee for their diligent
consideration of community input, technical information, and City planning policies.
I am writing in support of the Preferred Alternative of the Anholm Bikeway. I live between Lincoln and Chorro streets. I
sometimes drive my daughter to/from Pacheco Elementary, sometimes she rides her bike, and sometimes she walks.
Everyday I am heartened by the number of kids and families who I see walking and biking to school. They are doing the
things we all have agreed make our community great. Let's support them in our commitment to providing Safe Routes to
School. Lets support The Preferred Alternative of the Anholm Bikeway does this. It strikes the right balance of creating
safer streets for everyone and encouraging ridership. It follows, as close as possible given the existing infrastructure and
other constraints, the natural route of bicyclists. I agree with others that the Lincoln St Alternative doesn't do enough to
raise ridership or increase safety for riders.
Thank you for your hard work making decisions that make San Luis Obispo a better place for everyone.
Thank you,
Martha Miller
