Your staff has done a great job assessing ways to retrofit a bikeway into an older neighborhood while respecting existing conditions and residents as much as feasible. It is not easy. I look forward to using the bikeway to commute, get my daughter school, and to get downtown on weekends. I am also excited that future phases may include aesthetic and other bike-related capital improvements to Chorro between Highway 101 and downtown. The Anholm Bikeway will be well-used and will encourage other residents in Anholm, the growing Foothill corridor, and Poly students to use bikes more regularly. I do not think the Lincoln alternative would be nearly as effective, for the same reasons articulated by your staff. Lastly, I'd like to add that it is clear from recent project(s) correspondence that residents of Anholm that are closest to Foothill are feeling the effects of a growing Cal Poly and the successful redevelopment of the Foothill shopping area most directly. I would ask therefore, that you also direct staff to continue to work diligently with those residents to develop an effective parking permit program that will help preserve the conveniences and streets that they enjoy but feel they are losing. Good luck with your deliberations. Keith PS - the newish "M" trail on Cerro San Luis is awesome. Kudos to your parks and natural resources staff. Keep up the good work. 1
