Subject:I Support the Anholm Bikeway Plan
Dear Council Members,
As a 15-year resident of San Luis Obispo, I have spent countless hours on the seat of my bicycle in town. Riding to/from
work, school, restaurants, parks, and the homes of friends.
Being able to safely and legally ride my bicycle around town is one of the reasons I love this place. And I know thousands
of other residents feel the same.
I am writing to express my clear support for the proposed Anholm Bikeway Plan. I believe this plan has been done with
incredible care and precision by city staff, with input from hundreds of residents, exploration of alternatives,
understanding of use cases, and with the best option for multi-modal transportation in mind.
As a key path for children to ride/walk to schools as part of the federal Safe Routes to Schools program—this is a major
place to improve movement for these children and their families.
Regardless of the inflammatory rhetoric of certain community members (categorizing projects like this as "rape" does
nothing but harm sexual assault victims), I ask that you approve the plan in front of you this evening.
Thank you for your continued dedication to improving multi-modal transportation in our wonderful town, and for the
outreach programs you provide for residents to engage in the public process.
