There is a notation that a pattern cannot be detected at the intersection of Oceanaire and Madonna in order to proactively address the intersection’s safety deficiencies. There is a group of neighbors who brought this intersection up recently during the San Luis Ranch development and had a list of suggested improvements already needed, which would be needed even more so with that development. Spending a lot of time at this intersection as a driver, a cyclist, a pedestrian and a parent trying to get a young child to and from school safely, there are some simple changes that can be made to significantly improve the safety of this intersection. When you travel through it multiple times each day, there are clear patterns relating to both the road configuration (lane striping, visibility) and lack of enforcement / illegal driving practices that can and should be addressed. Fixing these issues would be fairly easy with some restriping and active transportation facilities. I would be more than happy to avail myself for meetings/walk throughs/making a list/coordinating outreach with the School Site Council/neighbors/others to share solutions toward making this intersection safer. This is a major school and city bus crossing location, and there are a lot of bicyclists travelling through it as well. Please feel free to be in touch; there are patterns, and many of us who travel through here daily would be more than happy to offer realistic, attainable solutions.
