Subject:Anholm Bikeway Plan
Dear Honourable San Luis Obispo City Councilmembers:
As a former resident of San Luis Obispo for over three years, I admire the City's boldness with the Anholm Bikeway
Plan. Bicycle boulevards are essential tools for making bicycling the primary transportation method in a community, and
thus increases the safety and tranquility of the city streets.
I am very disturbed in reading the recent comments made by a former City of San Luis Obispo mayor, comparing bike
lanes to rape. Frankly, his opinion has no merit here, and I believe that the councilmembers should fully adopt this plan,
not just to benefit the community, but in opposition to a terrible man's reckless views on sexual assault.
San Luis Obispo is a model for bicycle transportation in this country, and in the world, and Mayor Ken Schwartz is an
embarrassment. To fully join the 21st century, I believe that the preferred alternative should be adopted without
reservation. Furthermore, due to his blatant insensitivity to community values, I also would submit that the plaque in
Mission Plaza, honoring Ken Schwartz, be stricken from public property and removed.
Sincerely yours,
Sloan Thomas Campi
