This information will save the neighborhood a lot of angst. They were in the process of hiring an attorney to take a civil CC&R action that they will not have to do now that they know the owner occupancy requirement is in place. Even though the CC&Rs apparently prohibit ADUs I think folks are OK with them if there is an owner occupancy requirement. I do not speak for them therefore this is just my opinion. A number of folks from this neighborhood met with city staff and tried to find out the status of these permits and until tonight they never knew that these permits must comply with the new ordinance. I wonder if there is a better way for folks to get this kind of information in an expeditious manner. Gawd, I know you folks have been working real hard to keep the public in the loop. This seems like a breakdown in communications that could have been avoided. I trust that the data on the infoSLO website is current. I still think there are issues with the 40 or so ADUs that appear to be moving forward without the owner occupancy requirement. Up to 10 adults (or more) in a R1 zoned property seems like too much to me. Then with the waiver of the parking requirement there can be big problems in the neighborhood. Whew! 1 Thanks David Blakely From: Codron, Michael <mcodron@slocity.org> Sent: Monday, April 9, 2018 7:10 PM To: Since the permits are under review, they must comply with the current ordinance requirements, including owner occupancy. I'm sure this will come up for discussion tomorrow night. -Michael Codron From: Sent: Monday, April 9, 2018 6:51:09 PM To: Codron, Michael Cc: E-mail Council Website Subject: Scarry ADU Mr. Codron, I have heard that approximately 37 or the approximately 77 ADU permits that came into your office during the period of time when there was no owner occupancy requirement are being rejected. I may have heard this incorrectly and if I have can you please set me straight on this issue. I need to know if the two projects in Tract 460 at 803 Patricia Drive And 819 Pasatiempo are in the rejected que or are they going to be issued permits. When I go to the InfoSLO web site it tells me that 803 Patricia -- Permit # 1185-2017 for a ADU- New detached 800 sq ft ADU Status “Under Review” And 819 Pasatiempo -- Permit # 1161-2017 for an ADU Attached 799 sq ft. ADU Status “Under Review” Given the current situation I am not sure what “Under Review” means or how current this data base is. Since the ADU issue is on the agenda at the Tuesday City Council meeting and the neighborhood is very concerned about this it would be nice to know if these permits will be issued or not. Most folks can live with an ADU if there is the owner occupied requirement. If there is not this requirement folks will have some serious concerns. Can you please let me know if those two permits for ADUs are in the que to get permits or not? Pax Vobiscum, David Blakely 2
