Mayor Harmon and council members,
I grow increasingly disheartened with this council’s lack of concern
for democracy.
We, the intelligent, diverse, dedicated citizens you swore to represent,
meet with each other, write letters, pool financial resources and
obtain legal counsel, all to protect our quality of life from you, and
your decisions.
This is not how it should be!
This should be a resident based government.
We should be part of the decision-making that will affect us for future
generations. There should be full transparency, open discussion and
honesty. Streamlining the review processes will stifle public input and
minimize advisory body recommendations, which is not right.
You should listen to US, speak up for US, and prioritize US, putting
US before greedy developers and Cal Poly’s apathy.
Decisions are being made that will affect our quality of life, safety, the
environment, etc.
The time you spend in those seats is your chance to leave a positive,
OR a negative legacy. It’s your choice and it’s an awesome
responsibility.
Maybe it’s time to be open to some input from those of us who live
here, and care very much.
We are here, willing and able.
Let’s work together to go forward slowly and sensibly.
