Subject:Bike lanes on Broad
Dear Council,
Please do the right thing tonight and make the decision that requires courage to stand up to the existing way things are
done. If you want your city to be a more bicycle friendly city then you are going to have to make decisions that really
bother some people who could care less about bikes and you are going to have to spend money to create some bike
friendly corridors that are safe and encourage cyclists.
I am sure if you check your archives you will find that there was much vocal opposition when it was proposed to close
Monterey for Mission Plaza to be created or when the city said no to smoking or when the Bill Roalman Bike Boulevard
was created. Or more recently, to ban plastic straws.
Vision to do the right thing for the city takes courage and fortitude. EXERCISE those as you lead this city to be a very bike
friendly city.
I commuted by bike from my home to the Govt Center for 14 years and Broad has ALWAYS been and still is very
dangerous for me as a cyclist. You have the choice to change that.
Thanks for listening.
