I have been a resident and property owner in the Alta Vista neighborhood,on Albert Drive since 1986 . The neighborhood ha s undergone many changes since 1986 with a significant increase in houses becoming rental properties . The teahouses on Lero y Court/McCollum/Fredericks have had a big impact on the immediate neighborhood with increased traffic, noise an d disturbances . The Leroy Court project by Mr Aurignac was originally supposed to be ten 'single family homes'. However, the house s immediately became rentals and are still rentals today . At least five renters live in each house and the neighborhood has had to absorb 50+ people, cars, etc . The site at 1340 Taft Street should be developed . However, minimizing the impact on the Alta Vista neighborhood should be a top priority. If there is available space in a property in our neighborhood, it will be rented out! The proposed development is fo r townhouses with an extra room or den . In all likelihood, this will be an additional space to rent out, thus increasing the number o f people living at the site and of course the traffic and noise that are generated . neighborhood is a combination of single family homes that are owner occupied and houses that have four, five or six renters . The ghborhood is colorful and often lively . I enjoy living in this neighborhood and I enjoy getting to know all my neighbors . We know that the neighborhood will have many rental properties because it is adjacent to Cal Poly . However, to protect the quality of life for al l residents, we do need the City Council to help us by limiting the impact of new building projects. The proposed development at 1340 Taft Street can be scaled back by eliminating the 'den' and the third story . Sincerely, Suzanne Lord 299 Albert Drive
