I am writing to voice my opposition to more of these out of character, large and
intrusive buildings taking over our town. You know all the arguments: loss of view
scape, traffic, the lies about affordable housing that quickly turns into expensive off
campus dorms etc. And the endless breaks the developer gets to denigrate our
town is a scandal. Just look at that ghastly 22 Chorro, built almost out into the
street!
I am mystified by local government. You are all local folks yet you cater to rich, out
of town, uncaring fat cats over the locals, time and again. We brought in big box
stores that put your neighbors out of business. You allow things like this item to
block views and make life harder, and less worth living, for your brethren in town.
And to top it off much new (for the last 45 years) development is without visual
appeal. Big blocks of cement, nazi like bunkers.
We used to take pride in our town the way it was. Funky shops, low slung and
modest Cal style homes, the Andrews building (and so many more like it). If the
ARC at least would require some imagination and style the new stuff would not be
so egregious.
Do not aid and abet us becoming another Bakersfield. Enhance, not degrade, our
charming appeal. Bunkers, tall building, hopeless traffic-these are not what we
want. Why don't you take a little inspiration from Nancy (Reagen)-"just say no!"

“It’s impossible”, said pride.
“It’s risky”, said experience.
“It’s pointless”, said reason.
“Give it a try”, whispered the heart.
