Dear ARC Members,
I’m opposed to the proposed development on Foothill Dr. at the former McDonalds property.
I’m not opposed to responsible development of the property that is done with consideration for
the nearby neighborhoods and businesses. The current design does not have these
considerations.
I was similarly opposed to the plan for the Foothill/Chorro developmen t currently being built.
Now that the building is taking shape I feel like the concerns voiced about the project are being
realized. The development crowds the street and nearby homes , and blocks views of the
landscape. Obviously, we won’t know yet whet her the parking/traffic concerns about the
property will be realized.
The Chorro development appears to be designed to maximize profit of every square foot. I
would be saddened to see another such project close by on Foothill.
I feel the developers are disingenuous when they assert that they are creating workforce
housing. It is very hard for me to envision a realistic scenario in which these developments do
not end up primarily as student housing. I hope the council asks tough questions of the
developers to determine if their commitment to housing families is genuine.
