Subject:Bicycle lane on Laurel Lane
Dear Mayor and Council Members,
It seems logical and reasonable to vote for the Laurel Lane plan that Staff has proposed.
To try any other plan proposed by the Bicycle Coalition (Transportation Advisory Committee
by any name IS the Bicycle Coalition) would appear, once again, tantamount to being
influenced by a special interest group. I do not have information regarding the expense of
such alternate project but I would imagine the lane on the curb side of parked cars could
require more barriers....ultimately cycle tracks?
IF STAFF is operating on a most cost effective line of thinking (as residents require before
voting
for any additional taxes) then your vote should be the Staff plan. I do not suggest for a
minute
that the safest plan be ignored (if there are statistics). If that is the case, then what other
streets will have to be re done?
If you vote for another plan, I would not be surprised. Residents have been disappointed by
many
votes of this Council. Gosh, I give Councilman Gomez and Mayor Harmon reason to 'scold'
and Dan Revoire reason to give his 'demagogue'-sounding speech IF I WERE TO SUGGEST
that there are more
voting residents than there are of Bike Coalition. So, I probably shouldn't do that!!
I want what is best for San Luis and what is best for the neighborhood residents of San
Luis.
Thank you for not misunderstanding my passion.
Sincerely,
Camille
