Dear SLO Planning Commissioners,
My husband and I have been lifetime/longtime residents of SLO County, respectively. I have been here for 12 years
now, and him for his total 33 years of life. We have brought two children into the world in this very city, we are
attached to it deeply, and feel it truly is home, for the rest of our lives. We have so many memories here, so many
things to be grateful for, the best community we've ever seen anywhere. We feel pride for this area, and the people
here. I want to invest my life to continuing to make SLO all that it already is, and even better. My children school here,
they grow here. We work here, we work FOR here. My husband and I both work for State Government in SLO. We
have long wanted to live in SLO, but unfortunately we just cannot afford to live in the city as we so desire as housing
prices are at an all time high, and even renting a place for a family isn't feasible. The market for renting just isn't
conducive to families working in SLO, it's made for students schooling in SLO, most of whom will be leaving this town
upon graduation to work in other, more affordable locations with a bigger job market. We are here for the long-haul,
our career is in this very city, and I am fortunate and grateful for that, we never plan on leaving, ever. However, our
dream is to own a home, a place no landlord can raise the cost on us, therefore driving us out. I want stability and a
guarantee for our children, to stay with their class, their friends, their family, their town. We do not have this now, and I
cannot imagine having this in the future if projects like San Luis Ranch are not approved and carried forward. I ask you
to move this forward, for the sake of your town, the workers of and for your town.
Sincerely, a family resident of SLO sounty.
