Subject:Zoning Protection of Wildlife Corridor Bressi estate acreage (address 159/161 Broad
Street) San Luis Obispo
PLEASE FORWARD TO PLANNING COMMISSION PRIOR TO JUNE 27, 2018 MEETING AND
POST ON CITY OF SLO WEBSITE. THANK YOU.
Planning Commissioners:
Please follow staff's current recommendation and place the S-Overlay and its listed
considerations* on the ENTIRE Bressi estate remainder parcel (address 159/161 Broad Street)
including the C/OS-20 above Mission Lane.
The wildlife corridors, seasonal creeks, springs and swales which run down Cerro San Luis
and through the Bressi estate to Old Garden Creek are essential for the survival of the
mountain's wildlife. As an adjacent resident of the remainder parcel for 44 years, I have
personally witnessed the tremendous amount of water in its seasonal creeks, swales and
springs, the incredible abundance of wildlife and how critical it is to their continued survival.
Maintaining the connectivity between the Cerro San Luis habitat and the riparian habitat of Old
Garden Creek is essential ; the wildlife on Cerro San Luis need to move about for survival,
protection, reproduction, and to obtain food and water.
As you are aware, protection of the City's Open Space, especially hillsides and creeks are the
very highest priority of city residents in the City's massive survey for the 2014 General Plan
Land Use and Circulation Elements (LUCE) update.
Thank you for your votes to place the S-Overlay with its special considerations* on the
ENTIRE remainder parcel of the Bressi estate thereby protecting the wildlife corridors and
natural resources of the City of San Luis Obispo.
Sincerely,
Cheryl McLean
