Knowledge of the background is important. In the end, stepping out with moral purpose is required for those of you who represent San Luis Obispo Residents concerned about wildlife. There is no legitmate reason to not include the upper portion with the lower portion--and no reason not to protect both at this time. Staff's proposal addressed the lower section. Concerned residents drew Staff's attention to the need to include the upper portion. Perhaps they will include it by the time you meet. If they do not change it, you will see they are more concerned about developers than they are about us. Talking 'round and 'round may be persuasive; but please be open to learning that residents who have been involved for a very long time have seen this unpleasant alliance for a very long time! Mayor Heidi Harmon and Council who voted with her (Gomez, Revoire) went against the majority of residents who believed supporting the General Plan Conservation Element protecting our Natual Reserves by disallowing human activity after sunset for the well being of wildlife. If you are unaware of these proceedings, suffice it to say that 3 of 5 on Council thought nothing of ignoring caring and conservation-minded residents. It didn't even matter that the respected organizations, ECOSLO and Sierra Club, were adamantly opposed. These on Council thought more hours of mountain biking was more important. Working to educate residents, we have hope of ending this 'reign' at election. Now you can protect us from Staff's agenda when the underlying alliance is developers over the welfare of neighborhoods and habitats! I trust you will see the light. Thank you for accepting facts, for stepping forward with conviction and for representing residents. Genuinely concerned after years of observing, Camille Small 1 2
