Past funding provided by the City through the PCC has allowed us to expand, diversify and enhance our marketing, enabling us to reach new audiences from within the City and throughout the Central Coast and beyond. With help from the PCC over the past five years in particular, we have increased our ticket sales by over 60%, and brought new audiences to downtown San Luis Obispo to enjoy professional live theatre and so much more. According to a survey done by the national arts advocacy group Americans for the Arts, a performing arts organization such as SLO REP can generate additional audience expenditures of over $600,000 per year at surrounding businesses. It may also contribute to a collective annual household income of over $700,000 and garner over $40,000 in tax and license revenue for our local government. When the City supports cultural institutions, everybody wins. The arts are not only good for the soul, they are also good for business. We appreciate the consistent past support offered by the City of San Luis Obispo to its cultural institutions through the PCC and we urge you to continue to provide, and even expand, this funding, so that these organizations may continue to thrive, making great art and producing events that inspire, educate, inform and entertain both our residents and our visitors; connecting our community and enhancing the quality of life in our city. Many thanks to the volunteer members of the Promotional Coordinating Committee for their generous funding recommendation. And thank you for your time, your service to our city and your continuing support.
