Subject:Please Approve San Luis Ranch Project
Having grown up on the central coast and just graduated from Cal Poly this year, I am hopeful that somehow there will
be a housing development that I can afford. I have applied to be on the waiting list and yes I am still waiting. When will
we have a project and what is the problem? Why does it take so long to approve what is desperately needed?
Through college I have worked downtown and been a student trying to pay my way through college and trying to pay
these astronomical rents. I lived on campus fror two years with rents over 800 for each room. In my rental house that
Im in now, We are 4 people paying 800 each plus utilities for a small bedroom in an old out of date home with little
modern convenience. No dishwasher, a claw foot tub, no storage, no closets and old double hung windows with little
insulation and only wall heaters.
As I understand it the San Luis Ranch offers, affordable homes for those of us who grew up and work here. The housing
offers materials tha are new, energy efficient, and quite possibly more affordable that what is currently out there. I
look forward to being able to actually purchase a home, one I possibly can afford. I want to stay where I grew up but can
not afford 1/2 a million dollars on a waiters salary. I have been living off of a restaurant income where I get few hours
between school classes and am even taxed on tips that sometimes I don't even get!
Please think of those of us who are starting out and want to be on our own, be able to save money via an efficient home
and most importantly given the ability to stay where we work and where we grew up.
I respectfully request that we get this and other housing projects moving forward to offer some relief for the common
man.
Sincerely,
Toby Tonascia
