Subject:San Luis Ranch Body of email: Dear Mayor Harmon & Councilmembers, “Your Story . .
I was born in Santa Maria. My family and I were transferred to Bakersfield when I was 9 due to my stepdads work. I’ve
tried a few times to move back to the area, however, it didn’t work out.
My husband and I have been married for 3-years now. My father-in-law was living in Paso Robles. My husband and I
made a decision to try and live a dream of relocating to the Central Coast. My father-in-law told us that he wanted to
move in with us when we move over to the area. Three weeks after we moved here, my father-in-law had a stroke. He
also suffers from COPD. Fast forward- he now lives with my husband and I in a two story “townhouse”. In December of
2017, while my husband and I were at work, my father-in-law fell down our stairs and broke his hip. It’s been a lot going
on this past year. We’ve thought about moving back to Bakersfield just so we can afford to buy an affordable house.
However, THIS is where we want to live and my father-in-law cannot handle the bad air quality in the valley. My
husband and I are both Office Technicians at the Prison. We have been looking for almost a year to buy a house that we
can call home. However, there isn’t anything affordable that would accommodate our household. I’m hoping we are not
forced to pay OUTRAGEOUS RENT or be forced to move back to Bakersfield.
This proposed community would be a huge blessing for those looking to buy a home, who live and work in the area.
Thank you for your time-
Erika Mittan
