HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/16/2018 Item 2, Wood Purrington, Teresa From:Victoria Wood <victoriawood@charter.net> Sent:Sunday, July 15, 2018 10:14 AM To:Advisory Bodies Subject:ARC communication 7/15/18 Architectural Review Commission, All of the agenda items for the ARC meeting for 7/16/18 are disturbing to me. The agenda items are a further indication that the City of SLO is unable to find the best path for our city. I know that the city has to provide increased affordable housing as legislated by the State of California and this is a difficult task . I believe developers are taking advantage of our city governments inability to provide guidance and say no to everything from following the rules about the colors of buildings to the very landscape of our city. SLO is surrounded by beautiful mountains that used to be the focus of our unique little town. The height and mass of buildings being allowed all over town are forever changing our city. Why not limit the size and height of the buildings with setbacks, courtyards and landscaping to allow for a more inviting experience for residents and the community. Shouldn’t new building blend with existing structures? We cannot take back the size of a building and how it will forever change how an area is developed. Take this opportunity to make the Foothill area and other new structures being built more inviting and an asset to the community not just about how much housing can be crammed in the building. The ARC has the ability to make creative recommendations and decisions that will hopefully be respected by our City Council. Thank you for your time, Victoria Wood San Luis Obispo 1
