Subject: Meeting at 5 Pm today
Rachel,
I was unable to attend the 5PM meeting as I am still at work… seems like an unusual time for community meeting as
most people work until at least 5PM— Which seems most likely there will be limited input.
There is great concern regarding allowing the current trend of the larger than usual projects known to SLO. These
projects are unseemly and frankly out of place for this town. - This is place for vistas not jammed up buildings that are
less than desirable.
For us on the north side of town the years of dealing with the students and the traffic a nightmare. There have been
several attempts by Cal Poly to sneak in large projects of housing which should be on their property since they have
plenty of room.
We have had numerous meeting with community members and the Police dept over continued issues.
It behoves the CITY Planner to take care of those who actually LIVE here and work there. Not the fleeting populations of
students who will forever be here temporary basis.
When the prints projects are just thrown in with our proper consideration of the “regular SLO People “ but more to
placate the Cal Poly folks who are not managing the student populations much less the student behaviors out side their
designated and well designed policies to manage behaviors that should have consequences.
It creates more and more frustration for the Regular people as well I believe more problems for the emergency fire
crews and police as the street will be packed. This city did not consider growth for a long long time. And now with these
thrown together messes.. it will not benefit anyone but the pockets of whom ever has developed these places. They will
leave the mess to you and your folks to mend.
I know nothing about you and where you come from but if you have lived outside SLO such as I , there are cities that
have large Universities in California and they do not place the burden onto those cities to mange the student housing
and issues of neighborhoods. I for one lived in Santa Clara and the City would bill The U. Of Santa Clara for any
infractions placed on the site residents. Here we pander and hover at their whims.

I can only hope that you do not turn this City into a nightmare.
Sincerely
Cynthia Scott
