Dear Rachel –
I’m writing to express my vehement opposition to the proposed development at 790 Foothill Blvd; a project currently
under review by the city. The proposed project is completely inappropriate for our neighborhood. It is far too tall and
will have a footprint far too large for the lot it will occupy. It will continue to destroy the character of this neighborhood.
The development at 22 Chorro should serve as a helpful example of over-development. This building is an abomination –
far too large with inadequate parking. This project will exert a severe impact on nearby merchants and neighbors as
residents, visitors, and customers of the retail establishments search for parking. In addition, the months-long
construction phase of this behemoth has caused a traffic nightmare in this section of town.
As for 790 Foothill, I strenuously urge the city to deny any waivers to height, parking, or set back provisions. Please do
not turn Foothill Blvd. into an urbanized canyon with even more traffic than there is currently. I understand and agree
with the concept of in-fill development. But, that development should be consistent with the character of the
surrounding neighborhoods.
