Subject:RE: 790 Foothill Project TALL SPRAWL
To The Architectural Review Board:
I live 1.2 miles from the proposed monstrosity at 790 Foothill Blvd. One of the foremost reasons
I chose this area of town to purchase a home was the scenic views of Cerro San Luis and Bishop
Peak, and the quality and character of the surrounding neighborhoods. Recently a huge multi-
family unit was erected at 22 Chorro that not only stunts those amazing views but has created a
hazardous tunnel through an extremely busy traffic area known for traffic collisions at the exact
intersection where this building sits. I cannot believe or understand why this was approved!
Aside from its horrendous size, the building is sure to create even more of a negative impact on
traffic and the safety of surrounding neighborhoods.
As student populations increase, the overflow of parking has spilled into our
neighborhood and visitors to my home often have to park up to a block from my own
home to find a spot. In most cases I have to completely avoid Foothill and take alternate
residential streets like Highland to get to Santa Rosa for fear of getting trapped in traffic
of colliding with pedestrians and bicycles along the busy street. The idea of adding yet
ANOTHER one of these ridiculously-sized projects that are an ugly blotch on the
landscape, do not provide enough parking to coincide with the beds and completely ruin
the landscape, character, quality and safety of MY neighborhood is confounding. I am
strongly opposed to approving any further tall-sprawl buildings in the Foothill area and
look forward to voicing my concerns at the open meeting today. I have read the
architectural report and it is obvious that this project does not match the character and
quality of this neighborhood.
