The plan is a well-balanced, measured approach to much-needed housing in our city. It satisfies the need for infill in an already developed area, preserves cultural heritage by maintaining acreage of farmland, and will be designated housing for those who work in our community. These are all enormous benefits. While we certainly cannot build our way out of our housing shortage, we can take cautious steps in the right direction. The alternative Measure J and the big box stores is no fit for our community, and certainly not in a residential area across from protected open space, Laguna Lake. Additionally, waiting until the housing crises escalates and is at a critical point is also not beneficial, because that's when poorly planned, rushed decisions are made. The folks of San Luis have already been waiting decades for this housing to come to fruition. Let's make it happen tonight!
