Honorable Chair and Members of the ARC:
I am concerned that the proposed Fuller Apartment Homes is another example of building housing that does not
sincerely address the SLO affordable housing needs. While it incorporates one affordable unit, that appears a mere
compliance with the requirements. Each square foot of land and building site remaining in our city is being eaten up by
developers who are not truly addressing the needs of our most needy population. Those who work within our city, I
believe the figure is 75% of that working force, are compelled to commute: long, arduous, stressful, environmentally
unfriendly commutes. They need accommodated into our cities, and the lip service that is being paid by developers,
does not do justice to our city's goal to house our workforce. That same workforce deserves the pride of belonging to
the city in residing there, investing in its welfare, in educating their families here, and participating in our present and
future, not merely as employees. Let us demand more low income housing, and curb the pattern, before there are no
more suitable sites remaining. Further, our resources , e.g.
water and transport, need realistic evaluation in proportion to the acceleration of growth. As an architectural
commission, it is still within your purview to look at the purpose of the project which precedes the external features of
the project. Thank you for your consideration, Genevieve Czech
