SLO Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Report Molly Kern, Chamber of Commerce Director of Communications and Business Education, reviewed the business activity and public relations activities from the past month. The Board discussed room occupancy rate for Cal Poly graduation weekend and potential impact of the date change for the Pismo Beach Car show. Research Results AMF representative Joe Denneny presented the consumer research study results presenting key findings for where people have visited recently, reasons for San Luis Obispo vacations, and what sources of travel information they use to inform their travel decisions. Responded to Board questions. The Board discussed study results concerning the reasons stated for not visiting San Luis Obispo, along with the top attracted socio-economic market. Public Comments: None. ---End of Public Comments--- No action was taken on this item. 2. 2018-19 Contractor Work Scope & Agreement Terms Board Member Kimberly Walker departed at this time. The Board reviewed the 2018-19 contractor and partner work scopes for approval. Management Committee Update Tourism Manger Cano reviewed the Minutes of the June 7, 2018 meeting, highlighting the strategic partnership with the Camber of Commerce on ShareSLO. 3. Marketing Committee Update Tourism Manger Cano reported on the Minutes of the June 6, 2018 Event Promotion Sponsorship meeting, noting that applications are due by July 6, 2018. 4. Promotional Coordinating Committee (PCC) Update Board Member Wilkins and Tourism Manger Cano reported on PCC event funding, the creation of the Midstate Fair “window” display, SLO Happenings funding, and Grants in Aid funding allocations. 5. Visit SLO Cal Update Board Member Patel noted that they changed their marketing agency to Miles Media Partnership, that two new board members were seated, and that Pismo Beach approved of a short-term rental ordinance. Tourism Manager Cano provided an update on the Advisory Committee, Tourism Exchange, the Marketing Committee, and shared the “Year in Review” brochure and the 2018-19 Marketing Plan. 6. Tourism Program Update Tourism Manager Cano provided a Tourism Program Update. SLO Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Report Molly Kern, Chamber of Commerce Director of Communications and Business Education, reviewed the business activity and public relations activities from the past month. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. 2018-19 Contractor Work Scope & Agreement Terms Tourism Manager Cano reviewed the 2018-19 contractor and partner work scopes, explaining that City Council would provide final approval to the committee’s action at their July 10, 2018 meeting Public Comments: None. ---End of Public Comments--- ACTION: MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER WILKINS, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER MATTESON, CARRIED 6-0, to approve the scope of work proposals for the Chamber of Commerce marketing support services to the GIA program, and the Matchfire SLO Happenings Phase-Out. Public Comments: None. ---End of Public Comments--- ACTION: MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER WILKINS, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER MATTESON, CARRIED 6-0, to earmark $ 2,000 of the available fund balance for a future strategic plan update 3. PCC Strategic Plan New Initiative Discussion Tourism Manager Cano reviewed the Framework for Developing the New Project/Initiative criteria as listed in the PCC strategic plan. The committee discussed research needs, potential issues and stakeholders, and focus topics for the development of the new program. By consensus the Committee formed three ad-hock groups to focus and report back on the discussed needs. The Committee directed staff to compile a listing of questions discussed to be used in their research. Public Comments: Molly Kern, Chamber of Commerce, suggested using the actual points from the committee’s Strategic Plan framework for developing the project focus. ---End of Public Comments--- No action was taken on this item. . Tourism Program Update Tourism Manager Cano provided a Tourism Program Update.
