Dear Council,
We (Brownstone Residents) received information notifying us of the Proposed Zoning Changes to
parcels in the area in which we live. It’s interesting because last week I received a notice at my
office (1065 Higuera) which didn’t appear to include the parcel directly adjacent to the Brownstones
(Rob Rossi’s parcel which currently has BofA on it). But at our home, we received a postcard which
does include this parcel. I have been a vocal advocate of height for housing and height in the
downtown commercial core, however I would not be in favor of this height directly behind residential
structures. It makes great sense to allow taller structures in commercial zones which do not abut
residential but this height would be extreme and not in keeping with the brand new brownstone
structures just built. We would completely support structures which are the same height as the
Brownstones and have long known that there would ultimately be greater density and development
behind us, but we would not support a height above the height of our structures. We would also
hope there would be ample set backs between any new larger structures on that parcel so that
there is not a giant wall behind the Brownstone structures. I realize this sounds selfish, and frankly it is
because we own one, but I truly don’t believe that a structure that is 75’ height makes sense abutting
residential structures.
I am unable to be at the meeting this evening so wanted to send in my two cents…appreciate your
consideration.
