Dear SLO City Council: Heidi Harmon, Andy Pease, Aaron Gomez, Carlyn Christianson, and Dan Rivoire,
My name is Monique Grajeda and I am a 25 year resident of SLO city. I came here to study architecture and
thankfully made it through and got my degree in 2000. I have been practicing architecture through several offices
over the years and have my own design business. I am also active politically in the community and do my best
to attend rally's, meetings and important BOS public agenda's to the best of my abilities. I also am an artist and
musician, lover or life, animals, and the environment.
I write to you to express my wholehearted beliefs that although we live in a beautiful area, green with land and
blue with sea, we are still practicing the self defeating concept of infinite building construction without regard to
the impacts on our biological system and out healths. I believe we/you have good intentions but have been
breed and cultured to believe that we are supposed to follow this machine like paradigm. I don't necessarily have
all the answers but I have been having much interest and research into the tiny house movement. As a society
and human race we need to live in harmony with our resources and amenities for the homeostasis of our species
on this planet. You all have the power and the voice to seek a better path like I know you all seek. Not one
encumbered by the status quo or the lure of money or the drive of competition and success. We are all linked by
love and universal energy and we can truly survive and be in greater happiness and abundance when we
collaborate with the trinity of survival air, water, soil.... earth, animals, humans.... love, respect, equality..
Please if you all have a few moments research the Bhutan. Understand how their council works and their
philosophy on life and living. How finding the path to happiness is not that far away or hidden.
I am not an expert but we need a diverse panel of leaders, leaders like you all but to include philanthropists,
biologists, poets, artists, healers, botanists, and the like to inspire and create what is best for the earth and the
animal habitats , from the roots to the sky and in turn we will all benefit, we will all thrive, we will all break out of
the chains of mass production control and the suicidal mantra of commercialism.
Ok i was very vague and maybe didn't seem to have a point. Hopefully someone gets it.
Thank you for your indulgence,
sincerely,
Monique Grajeda
