As a new city resident, I am excited to see the city working to address the challenges the community is facing by revisiting its zoning regulations. I applaud your efforts to be creative on how to best incorporate growth in our city. I’m excited to see you are considering ADUs, co-housing, and other ways to incorporate aesthetically appealing high-density development. I am glad you are also considering transitions between zoning areas. We must figure out how to grow. No growth is not an option for SLO or the county. I was not able to find in my quick scan of your documents online how you are ensuring more area for childcare facilities (or if you are thinking about this need). Along with the need for affordable (and more) housing for working families, having access to quality childcare is a huge need for families in our community. Many current childcare facilities are at capacity with long wait lists. These businesses would open more facilities if there were suitable and affordable locations in SLO. I urge you to consider, at the same time you are considering live-where-you-work policies that you also consider childcare-where-you-live- n-work policies. Thank you. 1
