Subject:No zoning change on Monterey
I am a property owner on the 1300 block of Palm and strongly oppose the zoning change on Monterey. To allow 75 ft
building heights would destroy our views of the hills to the east and decrease the appeal of the neighborhood and the
downtown ambience. Developers need to stick to the existing heights limits and find ways to make that work for them.
A big building will bring in cars regardless to the proximity of downtown. Most people have cars. Many walk to work not
just because of the exercise and the nearness of work places, but because of the lack of free downtown parking for
employees. The parking problem causes the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Palm to be packed with non resident cars on
weekdays from 8 am to 5pm.
Again, stand for retaining current zoning and keep SLO from over urbanization in this older section of town.
Sincerely,
Robin Hamlin
