Subject:I Support Protected Bike Lanes
Dear Mayor and Council,
I have been biking the streets of SLO since I arrived here in 1992. I strongly support the efforts by the city to make our
streets safer for cyclists and pedestrians. Bike vs car is ALWAYS a win lose where the car wins 100% of the time. Speed
is the overwhelming factor in reducing injury and the chance for an accident. I support any plan that most limits the
speed of vehicles and even better, separates them from cyclists and pedestrians completely.
With regards to the Anholm street options, I support option 3, the cycle track on Chorro and Broad. Not only is this is by
far the safest option, I honestly believe that property values will benefit as well. What family wants to live on a
dangerous street? What person in their right mind would turn down living on a street safe from speeding cars?
This is SLO, what's the rush? It's not a lot to ask drivers to plan their day so they can get through town to appointments
on time.
With your leadership, we have the opportunity to make our streets safer, healthier, and more prosperous for all.
Sincerely,
Jeff Legato
