We often hear that SLO is a progressive, bike friendly community but the current bike infrastructure to support improved bike ridership is lacking. I ride the bike boulevard to downtown everyday, and am very grateful for a car free, low risk commute. A protected bikeway alternative through the Anholm district would be a significant improvement in safety, linking riders with an efficient cross town biking corridor. This will ultimately help to get more people out of cars and on bikes, as well as provide a true safe route to the schools on that side of town. More bike ridership will improve the overall health and vitality of our community. Despite the fact that some parking will be reduced, the overall community benefit will be immense and immediate. Also, making adjustments now for sustainable transportation alternatives will be easier than kicking it down the road. I urge your support for protected bike lanes for our community like i see in so many other communities across this country. Thank you for your hard work and deliberation Sincerely, Steven Anthony (Tony) Skapinsky 2456 Gerda St., SLO 1
