Subject:Anholm Bike Improvements
Dear City Council Members,
I ride my bike through the Anholm neighborhood very frequently, sometimes as many as 15 trips per week.
I'm a confident rider. I grew up riding bikes in the crucible of Boston, MA.
If we want to promote modal change to help counter urban sprawl, climate change and promote health neighborhoods,
we need to provide better multi-modal transportation options.
My kids, Zoe (8 years old) and Quinn (6 years old) occasionally ride through the Anholm area, on the way to Lincoln Deli
or to get a frozen yogurt downtown. They are not confident riders. And if we want to convince the future generation to
consider transportation alternatives, we must build the infrastructure for the future generation of citizens.
I advocate for "plan 3" in this Tuesday's city council meeting. It is the only alternative that improves the infrastructure
for multi-modal transport by providing additional sidewalks for pedestrians and protected bike lanes for bicycles and e-
bikes.
Thanks,
John Oliver
