They do not live in the city of SLO. And I appreciate that you do listen to all the people in the city. The outside-the-city opinions, which there are, do concern me. But my biggest concern is that the "Bike Track" seems to be the majority of thought in these letters. I think with all the effort the city and community have done to find a middle of the road solution, that the "Bike Track" is the only solution for most people. And many of these people don't live in Anholm. To reclassify the streets in our neighborhood without knowing the impact of the new developments on Palomar, Chorro and Foothill and how they will effect our neighborhood I find puzzling. Somewhere in all of this, I think Aaron Gomez raised a concern, but backed down. Not having a strong organization such as Bike SLO and other bike clubs lobbying for us, we seem out numbered; whereas, our numbers have not been complied in the Anholm District for or against the bike track in a formal count/vote. It's the bike track, the reclassifying of our streets to accept more traffic that is upsetting myself and many of my neighbors in Anholm. Having gone through the speed bump and traffic calming measures in approx. 1996, and having appreciated the effort made by the city, but to have it all ripped out by the angry, disgruntled concerns of people outside the city was disheartening. I have written and called the city before when Mayor Romero was serving. My concerns were answered with pamphlets on how I could pay for such traffic calming measures myself. I've still have the pamphlets. The traffic calming measures were there and then taken out. So many of us here feel Post Traumatic Shock revisited by this new, but not new approach. Yes there are many letters written to the city clerk by people who do not live here. Los Osos, Grover Beach, and Orange County so far. Yes all voices are important. But if those people's voices do not live in San Luis the city I don't think they should have much merit. And for those who have written back to me so promptly, Thank you! Ms. Christianson thank you for not making up your mind yet. For some of these folks in Anholm the convenience (The need) of parking in front of their houses and the independence some of them feel by taking out their trash cans to the curb, is as important to me as it is for others who want to leisurely ride their bicycles through our neighborhood. To ride safely through our streets would be using the Lincoln street alternative. As I have said before, Chorro is the deep end and Lincoln is like the shallow end of a pool. 1 Please reconsider adding more traffic congestion to our neighborhood. And take the concept of a Bike Track off the table for any further discussion. Do use traffic calming devices. Reduce the speed. A bike track will not fit onto our streets. Lincoln is the only street we have at the moment that could feasibly home a bike track. Thank you for your time, From a concerned neighbor for those who feel timid or shy to speak up. Or for those who don't want to voice their opinion, because of the calamity of 1996. Nancy T. Pickering of Broad Street of the Anholm District, SLO 2
