Subject:Anholm Bikeway Project
Madam Mayor, Council Members,
I live at 1358 Peach Street in San Luis Obispo and I am writing in support of the Anholm Bikeway project that offers
protected bike lanes. As a car driver I enjoy the ease and privilege of being able to drive from any point in San Luis
Obispo to any other point because cars are supported and subsidized in our culture. As a cyclist, I share the streets with
vehicles that come very close to me, drive much faster than I ride, that often don't see me and/or don't care that I'm
there. Bicycle travel, for all the positives that are associated with it, is not fully embraced locally. Our community has
taken on difficult change amid controversy before, the smoking ban for example, and in doing so has been a model for
other communities. Having a network of bike lanes and paths that encourage people to ride bicycles is one way to
further the health of our citizens, reduce pollution and congestion, and truly provide for all the citizens of our city.
Please support the Anhom Bikeway Protected Bicycle Lanes.
