Subject:Increasing traffic on Chorro St.
Dear Mayor and City Council members,
As a resident living on Chorro Street, I am deeply concerned about significantly increasing traffic on this street. Though
there are our times during the day that are less busy, there is significant traffic from 7: 30 to 9 a.m. And 3: 30 to 6 p. m.
on weekdays, It is tricky to back out from our driveways during these times and these are the very times that bike
commuters will be traveling to school and work. ALL of the planning Commissioners stated that they were bike riders
but rejected the proposal to increase traffic on Chorro and instead recommended a trial of traffic calming and diffusers.
As it is, we will see an increase in traffic with the completion of 22 Chorro, 790 Foothill, and 71 Palomar. It would be wise
to wait and see how these completed projects affect traffic, congestion, and parking.
My neighbor has suggested painting crosswalks at all intersections and timed crosswalk blinking lights at the stop signs.
Blinking lights do make motorists more aware.
My spouse and I have supported many of the changes that have occurred over the years but, to us, this is not a safe
proposal.
Thank you for your consideration.
Best regards,
Terri Trew
