Subject:We live in the Anholm, and we support protected bike lanes
Dear Council,
We support protected bike lanes and safer sidewalks in our neighborhood and across our city. We ride bikes or walk to
Bishop's Peak Elementary School at least three days each week because a) it's free, b) it empowers our kids to get
around on their own steam, c) it connects us more closely to our neighborhood and to one another, and d) it makes our
bodies feel strong and healthy!
It's neither an accident nor luck that has made San Luis Obispo a desirable, model city for decades. Rather, it is the
intentional planning and forward thinking of our elected officials and their constituents that have closed Higuera Street
every Thursday night for Farmers' Market, reconfigured traffic on Morro Street for the Bike Boulevard there, and
transformed a busy (and seemingly indispensable) section of Monterey Street into Mission Plaza, now the beating heart
of town. As recipients of those public gifts, the Lewis family thanks you for looking beyond that which benefits a few to
that which benefits many, many more, and for generations to come.
Respectfully,
Jacob Lewis
