Subject: Anholm Bikeway Proposal
SLO City Council Members,
Once again, we add our voices to the
many who object to the
$3,000,000 Anholm Bikeway proposal.
We are taxpayers...permanent residents
and property owners in San Luis Obispo
who have attended your council
meetings on this subject, surprised
always that some speakers in favor of
this proposal often are not residents of
San Luis Obispo. ( Is it not proper
public meeting protocol that speakers
are required to state where they
reside?)
From our observation, several of you
have already made your decision on this
issue and no matter what, will not
yield. Some of you have told me that
you feel you were elected by
a majority, and therefore the majority
will agree with you on what you do.
If so, why not put this on the ballot to
see if the voters indeed do agree with
spending $3,000,000 of taxpayer money
on this ?
Again, we LOVE our bicycles and we
love riding, but neighborhoods and
safety for all comes first.
With your supported new mega student
housing developments in the Foothill
and Palomar neighborhoods with
inadequate parking, a traffic nightmare
is only a matter of time. Yes, Cal Poly
students ride bikes, but they also bring
cars which need to be parked and do
drive through neighborhoods. (We are
proud Cal Poly alumni.)
Attached is a list of specific objections.
Sincerely,
Carol and Rich Guenther
