Subject:Proposed Anholm Bikeway
Dear City Council,
I am a homeowner on Chorro Street, right at Ground Zero of the proposed Anholm Bikeway Plan. I can't tell you how
opposed I am to this project! The City's plan to divert traffic off of Broad Street onto Chorro, Lincoln, Murray, and
Meinecke increasing traffic by significant amounts is absolutely unacceptable. Chorro is already a busy street and with
increasing traffic by 55%, it will make residing here a living hell. Reclassifying the street as Artery will also severely and
negatively affect our property values, making moving out of this neighborhood to escape this proposed nightmare a
difficult prospect.
This ill-conceived project, with a circuitous bike path that twists and turns through the neighborhood is going to be used by
few bicyclists. Instead they are going to continue to use Chorro since it is a straight path, and they will do it now with
heavy traffic. This is just a vanity project for the City Council and our Mayor to be able to say they are creating "green"
projects, while getting very little benefit with tremendous cost to neighborhood residents.
Be honest with yourselves, if these traffic increases were being proposed on YOUR street, you would find your inner
NIMBY in a heartbeat. Please stop this madness now!
