I am writing to urge City Council support of the alternative (s) proposed by the residents of this neighborhood. I hope
you will do your primary job of representing your constituents in their respective neighborhoods. Simply pursuing your
own goals and agenda does not serve the public.
I see this issue as similar to the hated rental inspection ordinance forced on us some years ago. That was a strong reason
the last mayoral race ended in an upset. I hope you will not make the same mistake the last council made by creating an
unpopular policy to radically reorganize transportation modes in the Anholm district.
Listen to the residents most affected by your decisions and policies. Many of them know the geographics and
consequences better than staff or Council. Questionable statistics and flow charts do not tell the whole story.
I see a group in town is organizing a 'speaker blast', including children (ignorant of the issues and coerced into this
activity) to overwhelm heartfelt and real concerns of the citizens who will have to bear the brunt of any negative aspects
of certain alternatives. This is an unfortunate power play and should be discounted.
Yours,
Pete Evans
