HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/4/2018 Item 15, Brooks,K City of San Luis Obispo City Council Kelle Brooks 780 Meinecke Ave. San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 Spet.4, 2018 To whom it may concern, th I am writing in regards to the Sept. 4 meeting about the proposed Anholm bike path. As an Anholm resident who walks, bikes and drives, I am in support of a bike route in our neighborhood. Currently our streets privilege the car. I am in support of balancing the modes more equally. I have been following this issue and have attended several public meetings on this topic. I am very concerned about the most recent planning commission meeting where the outcome seemed to be- to make no changes. I am concerned about the increased traffic conditions a plan may cause, as are many residents, but I am in support of improved bike/ pedestrian infrastructure. Doing nothing is not an option. We need to put the larger objectives of bicycle infrastructure ahead of individual resident concerns. This town and residents should have a higher quality of bicycle/ pedestrian infrastructure and our neighborhood is an essential part of the overall system. I have been very impressed with the city staffs proposals for the bikeway and resultant traffic conditions. It is impossible to come up with a plan that pleases everyone and I think they have done a great job managing this. In particular, I support the recent plan which calls for a traffic diverter at Broad/ Ramona/ Meinecke. As a resident, I am willing to accept some changes to our neighborhood in support of increased bicycle infrastructure. I am in support of either the divided bikeway, or the reduced traffic on broad option. I would ask the city staff continue to consider any implications to increased neighborhood traffic that plans may cause. Please move ahead with a bike route through our neighborhood. Sincerely, Kelle Brooks
